Welcome to Kingswear Primary School's Website

Kingswear is a small friendly school with 70+ pupils and
where all the teachers know all the children.
We welcome children of all abilities and take children from 3 years upwards with a Foundation Stage Unit.
We now have an Outside Learning Area - see Gallery, left, for a photograph.
We have joined three other local primary schools, Blackawton, East Allington and Stoke Fleming, in the Our School Federation.
This will increase the opportunities available for our children, both in the academic and sports areas, by providing access to the wider activities and facilities available to larger schools while still maintaining all the advantages that being a small school can offer.
Sarah Wollaston, our MP, was recently at the school and asked a
small boy who was his best friend at the school. He replied "everybody".
We consistantly exceed all Government targets for
Standard Assessment Tests - both Key Stages 1 and 2.
At the end of Year 6 children can choose between
secondary school or take the Eleven Plus for grammar school.
Use the buttons, upper left, to navigate around the site.
We had an Ofsted inspection on the 10-11th November 2009 and are thrilled with the report. The inspection was under the new tougher criteria and we maintained our 'Good' rating which apparently few schools do. The following is from the opening paragraph. Please read the full report which can be found in 'Documents'. See also the Headteacher's letter to parents there. "Kingswear Primary is a good school that provides well for pupil's academic and personal development. It has improved rapidly over the last year and after a period of satisfactory achievement pupils are now making good progress in their learning because of the good teaching and interesting range of activities provided. Pupil's excellent behaviour and enjoyment of school also play an important part in their good progress. Relationships throughout the school are excellent and pupils say they feel safe and well cared for. Many parents expressed their considerable satisfaction with the school and this parent's comments are typical of many received: 'I think it is a wonderful school which provides for all of my children's educational and emotional needs."
